How to Check If Your Phone Is eSIM Compatible (iPhone & Android)
Before you buy a Balisim eSIM for your Bali trip, take two minutes to confirm your phone supports eSIM and that the eSIM is active on your device. This guide walks you through it step by step — first for iPhone, then for Android (Samsung shown as the example).
Quick check first:
Dial *#06# on your phone. If you see an EID number listed alongside your IMEI, your phone has eSIM hardware. Then follow the steps below to confirm which IMEI your Telkomsel eSIM is connected to.
How to Check eSIM Compatibility on iPhone
Step 1 — Open Settings.
Locate the Settings icon on your home screen and tap to open it.
Step 2 — Tap "General."
Scroll down the Settings menu and select the General option.
Step 3 — Tap "About."
At the top of the General menu, select About.
Step 4 — Scroll down to the IMEI section.
Keep scrolling until you find your IMEI details. iPhones with eSIM support show multiple entries (Primary and additional lines).
Step 5 — Identify which IMEI the Telkomsel eSIM is connected to.
Look for the line where the Carrier field shows Telkomsel (e.g., "Telkomsel 64.0"). That is the IMEI your Balisim / Telkomsel eSIM is connected to.
Important note: Make sure the Telkomsel eSIM is enabled first so it appears in the eSIM compatibility menu. If it is not enabled, the Telkomsel eSIM will not be displayed.
How to Check eSIM Compatibility on Android (Samsung)
Step 1 — Open Settings.
Locate the Settings icon on your home screen and tap to open it.
Step 2 — Scroll down to "About phone."
Scroll through the Settings list until you find the About phone menu.
Step 3 — Tap "About."
Tap the About phone option to open your device details.
Step 4 — Identify which IMEI the Telkomsel eSIM is connected to.
In the About phone screen you'll see your SIM slots listed (SIM 1, eSIM). Find the entry where the Network field shows Telkomsel — that IMEI is the one your eSIM is connected to.
Important note: Make sure the Telkomsel eSIM is enabled first so it appears in the eSIM compatibility menu. If it is not enabled, the Telkomsel eSIM will not be displayed.
What If My Phone Doesn't Show an eSIM Option?
- Your phone may not have eSIM hardware (most phones released before 2018–2020 don't).
- Your phone may be carrier-locked — locked devices often block foreign eSIMs. Check under Settings > About: "Carrier Lock: No SIM restrictions" means you're fine.
- The eSIM may simply not be enabled yet — activate it in Settings > Cellular (iPhone) or Settings > Connections > SIM manager (Samsung).
If none of these apply, a physical Bali SIM card is your backup option. (Internal link: physical SIM product page.)
